So, this past weekend, my dad, Evelyn and I went to his Family Reunion in Elkins, WV. We had a fantastic time! I took a sign I'd made for the annual silent auction we do - super fun!! :) Here it is... Went for a whopping $63.00! Plus, I have an order to make another one!
I had to make my own large WV state stencil by dividing my template into 4 sheets of paper then cutting each piece (and lots of detail) out. Then had to tape them together.
I started out with 3 pallet boards attached together on the back with strips of wood and hangers. But once I got my stencil made, it was too large for what I already had going on, so I just added two more boards to the bottom of the sign.
Then I lightly sprayed adhesive on all of my stencils and placed them on the sign where I wanted them, then traced and peeled them off. I worked for several hours into the night hand painting in between my outlines. Let it all dry overnight, then sanded over it to give it that distressed look that i love. :) The boards were very dry looking, so I added some Howard's orange oil furniture polish to it to liven up the wood. I love how it turned out!!

This sign, I made to sell at The Gathering Place. :)
I love it too!!
